Invited to paint/peform for a guest audience of more than 300 new LACMA members, emmeric completed a two-panel Red Dragon, appropriate for the Los Angeles Chinatown venue.
First sketching in charcoal...then defining the face, coils and claws with big strokes of black...some aerosol accents...then the yellow flesh...the obligatory red background ...and finally the smaller brushes for details.
emmeric james konrad completed the new work in just over an hour. Several inquiries about acquisition came from the crowd of young art patrons in attendance at the popular Quon Bros Grand Star restaurant (and jazz bar) on Broadway.
Special thanks to Susie Kin who organized the event for Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), and to LACMA and all the new members for their interest and support of this important LA painter.
Portrait of concentration, emmeric adds details to Dragon's head
Thumping trance music from the DJs and hoots from the throng behind him do not
disrupt the painter
